The gold price displayed on the chart reflects 24-carat gold (99.99% purity). By default, the chart shows the current gold price in troy ounces and pounds sterling (GBP). A troy ounce weighs 31.103 grams, making it approximately 3 grams heavier than a standard ounce.
The gold market operates Monday to Friday, typically closing between 22:00 and 23:00 GMT each evening. Markets are closed during weekends and certain bank holidays, which is why the chart may display a flat line during these periods.
